I finally got the 5DMkII I've been harping about - yay! I picked it up Wednesday and the plan was that Ryan and I would join forces and do a little video-ing on Thursday night. Yeah, right. I basically showed up with the camera fresh out of the box, and knowing very little about either it, or videography. But it was great! I have no idea how the video turned out (Ryan is editing it - I saw some potential for greatness in some of my footage, and I know I have a lot to learn, technique-wise - which I'm very keen on doing), but I am very, very happy with the stills, a vast improvement from the G12; like night and day - literally, the 5D turns the dark cave of Tommy Doyle's into daylight! Okay, well, almost.
It was great fun shooting with Ryan. The challenge of course is how to take pictures, shoot video, play music, and enjoy the session, all at the same time. For example, one of my favorite jig sets came up while I was tethered to the camera. Oh well.
These were shot with my 50mm/1.4 @ 6400 ISO, and include a few really sweet shots by Ryan. I love the camera, and I love these photos.

Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteWe done good - love your shots!
ReplyDeleteHey ... looks like a much scruffier bunch of musicians in these photos, compared to those at the top of your blog! I guess this session happens in a poorer part of town! :-)
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I wish they were all videos.
Cheers
Dick
Dick, thanks for stopping by - heh heh, yeah, this is a scruffy bunch, alright - a bunch of hooligans :-)
